    Not As High-Quality As Pictured...2007-05-162 / 5
I don't mind paying extra money for something that's worth it. This lap desk was a disappointment. However, I've tried to use it anyway.

The pencil box that's built in is a joke. You can fit about 2 pencils in it. Forget trying to fit thicker pens in there because the door won't close.

After about 1 month of use the bean bag padding underneath the desk split open so I have all these tiny white balls falling out which are impossible to vacuum ALL of them up. They're everywhere. In my bed. All over the carpet. I even saw one on my dog's lip the other day...just when I thought I finally go them all up.

When shopping for an item like this, you may want to go to an actual store and get it so you know what you're buying and can determine the durability. Also, NEVER get one of these desks with the "bean bag" substance in them because if it ever rips open, you'll have these white balls in your life forever.
Not as nice as the picture looked2007-03-162 / 5
The quality was less than I expected. The pillow on the back does not keep the lap desk secure and the pen/pencil holder set into the top right side gets in the way when writing. I saw a better one at Linens n' Things for $9.99. I did receive it right away and was happy with the delivery time.
    Pure trash2007-02-231 / 5
This lap desk is a joke. As the other reviews indicate, it is very flimsy. The pads are not comfortable. We simply threw the lamp away. We tried to return the desk, but were given a full credit for the cost and told to keep the desk, so you might say in the end we paid what it was worth.

    Poorly designed, and cheaply built2006-01-221 / 5
I wanted a surface large enough to grade papers with a grading key beside them, or to use my laptop with some notes beside it. Most lapboards are too small. This one seemed just the right size, and a good discount from a similar product offered by a high-end book-related furnishings supplier (Levenger). But it's GARBAGE.

The surface is so thin that I expect it to break at any moment, and the edges are practically *sharp* - not something you'd want in your lap. The corner straps which are supposed to hold in paper are so shoddily placed, and the elastic is so stretched, that they couldnt hold anything still. The "pencil holder" is a joke - too small and flimsy to take seriously.

The light is broken in three ways: the circuit barely completes, so that the light is pretty much never on; the neck is too flexible and not positionable, so that it just flaps around in the air, shining me in the eyes as I wait for one of its flimsy ribs to snap in half; and the base came unglued from the lapboard. I was able to duct-tape the light's base back to the lapboard - but now I won't be able to change the battery without changing the tape.

Worst of all, the "padding" at the bottom is a 1/5-filled bag of styro pellets. There's no cushion effect, and the pellets move around so much that I can't even get the writing surface on the top level - it's always tilted to one side or the other.

I can't even say that *on balance* it's a bad product, since there no feature of this product succeeds. It's *entirely* junk - so much so that, while I wasn't able to return it, I was able to get a credit card credit when I contacted the seller and complained.
    This is a horrible product.2005-04-291 / 5
I have bought many things off of 's site and this is the first product review I have written. I bought three of these for my kids (9,7 and 5) so they could do their homework in bed. The entire unit was flimsy from the get go. The board is so thin that it risks cutting you. The bean bag detachable bottom is thin and not comfortable. Most of all, the light didn't work on one of them (right out of the box), sometimes works on the second and stopped working on the third already. The connection for the light is so poorly constructed, it looks like a 2nd grader's science project. The "neck" of the light is so cheaply made, you can't position it. It is just a piece of plastic that bends towards the user due to the weight of the light bulb at the top. The pencil case is cheap and already broke on my daughter's board (when she tried to open it). I would have returned it, but the instructions are clear that all the original packaging is needed, etc. and I had already disposed of it. I can't get my money back, but hopefully the reader of this can choose a different product.
