The Gentle Leader SpraySense Collar uses patented SprayLogik technology to deliver a harmless burst of citronella spray to interrupt your dogs barking. It acts on four of your dog's five senses - he hears it, sees it, feels it and smells it. Citronella is a unique scent that most dogs don't normally encounter. It's non-offensive to humans yet unusual enough to distract your dog and interrupt the unwanted behavior. Shock and ultra-sonic collars attempt to reduce barking with pain. In addition to being less effective than spray, pain often increases anxiety and aggression and makes some behavior problems worse. When to use: The Gentle Leader SpraySense Collar can be used with any breed of dog that weighs 6 lbs. or more and is at least 6 months old. If your dog is smaller or younger please check first with your veterinarian. It is ideal for controlling general nuisance barking both indoors and outdoors. It is not recommended for anxiety-related barking unless specifically directed by a behavior profession. | | I had really high hopes for this product to stop my dog from barking. I even had a relative that said it worked for her. Unfortunately, my dog toughed it out and would bark until all of the solution ran out and he was back to barking at full force. I probably says more about my dog and my training abilities than the product. |

| | I have a beagle mix who likes to drag out his howl in the worst way so I started using the spray collar. At first he was really depressed because he didn't know what was going on, but after a bit he adjusted. As time went on, I realized it was useful to stop him from digging and being too rowdy with the other dogs in the house. It got to a point where he wore the collar too often (the instructions say not to do that) and he got used to it. Now he knows when he has it on and when he doesn't and behaves accordingly. This is definately my fault, but it's important to know if you're thinking about buying this product, IT IS NOT AN EQUAL REPLACEMENT OF TRAINING. It's also not natural to the species to strap a collar with a spray around their neck to stop them from misbehaving. The collar comes with instructions on how to use it as a tool, not a crutch, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. But knowing what I know, I wouldn't buy this product again. I would just put the time and effort into training my pup the right way. |

| We purchased this collar from about 2 years ago. We had problems with it spraying when our dog didn't bark. I called the company and they sent out a new one. It worked well for awhile then it started shooting up like Old Faithful when I was filling it. The batteries also didn't last very long. We stopped using it for a year because I was frustrated with the issues we were having. I decided recently to try again, and that is when it was shooting out the Citronella as quick as I put it in. I called the company again and they said that they had recalled the model that I had so they sent out another new one. They also included spray and battery which I thought was nice of them. This collar has been working better, but when I don't have it on she barks alot. Sometimes I will put it on her without turning it on and that works. We have a new puppy so I hate to leave it on our older dog all the time since it seems to prohibit her from playing with the puppy.
I am happier with this model, and like I said, "It is better then nothing", but I am still not getting the results I was hoping for. For those of you who complained about the unit being faulty, give Premier a call. They are really good about replacing it. |

| We have a 3 year old 14 pound Cavachon dog and he has seperation anxiety and hyperactivity. We were on the brink of getting rid of him due to his barking. We tried everything from personal obedience instructors, shock collars, anxiety meds, ultra-sonic trainers, massive amounts of exercise, and read numerous books on dog training. Nothing worked.
We borrowed this bark collar from a friend as a last resort, and it worked better than anything. Unlike the shock collars, it did not work him up even more when it was activated. It seems he knows he can't get worked up now, and not only does he not bark, but he doesn't get as hyper.
has the best price and free shipping so you don't have to shop around. When we got our own it was very sensative and was spraying way too often. I called the company and they said some newer models have had this problem. They sent a new one out immediately. |

| | After reading all of the reviews and being frustrated with my dog, I broke down and bought the collar. Within minutes my dog was sprayed, however, he didnt bark yet. The device sprayed my dog for swallowing, yawning and whining. My dog was scared to death and was shaking and cowering at my side....and he's an 80 pound GSP. I understand it works for most dogs but I've seen a couple of reviews such as mine. If you do decide to try it out, be sure you're with your dog in case something like this happens. |
