| Our labrador underwent extensive surgery for bone fragments in both front elbows. Without a supplement of glucosamine and sodium chondroitan sulfate, her prognosis for arthritic problems is high. With the Cosequin DS product, we are able to address this issue. She chases after tennis balls, goes for walks, and does amazingly well with little/no noticeable difficulty walking, running, etc. Her age- almost 2 years old, certainly helps as she will most likely suffer from severe arthritis in her later years. However, having gone through an extensive surgery like our dog has experienced makes it a necessity for some kind of supplement for her joints. Cosequin DS meets the requirements set out by our dog's surgeon and our veterinarian. The cost of the medication with the proportion of milligrams of the supplements is a great deal. We highly recommend this product!! |

| I have had this just over a month and my 10 year old dog SMUDGE seems to be moving more easily. However....as a chewable it is not working for Smudge...I wrap it in cream cheese or liverwurst and away we go! |
| Help for two older pugs | 2010-03-07 | 5 / 5 |
|
Background: I have two pugs - the female is 11 and the male is 12. Seven years ago, the female had surgery on her knee to correct a luxated patella. At that time, the vets advised me to start her on Cosequin to hopefully slow or counteract the development of arthritis in her newly rebuilt knee. Then, several years later, the vet suggested I start my male on Cosequin as well. Can't hurt, probably will help.
Result: I firmly believe this daily pill makes a big difference in my pets' health and comfort. Several times over the years, I stopped giving them the pills for one reason or another and I could definately see a negative reaction in their comfort and movement. Once I restart the introduction dosage of one pill per day (for dogs under 25 lbs), I can usually switch back to the maintenance dose within two to three weeks.
Considerations: I have discovered that this is a long-term treatment that will continue indefinately. In my opinion, it's a very easy step to take to provide comfort and relief for my dogs. The pills are easily chewable but for some reason, my male will not take it alone, I have to poke it into a treat. My female will gobble it up without thinking twice. |

| My dog has been taking this since he was a puppy because of early onset arthritis. He loves it and it definitely helps. He's 8 years old now. |

| My big guy (140 lbs) is incredibly playful and loves accompanying me on outdoor excursions. Because of his size and his (sometime) lack of discretion I was looking for something that would help ensure he can have a good quality of life while he romps around the outdoors. Our vet gave her recommendation for Cosequin and after having him on it for the past 6 months I've noticed that while my boy gets tired, he is able to get the kind of playing done he wants to without being sore or stiff afterward. In my opinion, that makes this pricey supplement worth it. |
